Throughout her 20+ years at the firm, Julie has held many roles. These included managing, hiring, training, and providing guidance to both entry-level and more experienced sales assistants. Julie set the tone and practices that established WSC’s tradition of prompt, well-informed, courteous service. She was the point person between the firm and First Clearing. As Office Manager, she created monthly reports that provided a complete snapshot of the firm’s level of productivity and overall contributions throughout the year. Julie worked closely with Ralph Scarpa, the former President, on high-level and confidential projects. Her professionalism, expertise, and accomplishments earned Julie the respect of both colleagues and clients and resulted in her becoming a partner in the firm.
Julie worked for Janney Montgomery Scott, J&W Seligman, Josephson, and Herzfeld & Stern. During her 12-year stint at the Irving Trust Company she began to work with Ralph Scarpa, beginning a 48-year association that continued until Ralph’s recent retirement from Wellington Shields.
Those who’ve received Julie’s diligent, supportive professional training will not be surprised to know that her outside-of-the-office pursuits include being a volunteer coach for a local cheerleading squad, and providing assistance at her parish’s weekend Bingo games. She enjoys spending time with her family; taking long, relaxing walks with her dog Daisy, and more vigorously, dancing and working out at her gym.
